Description

The Emberlux is a 200mm surface-mount ceiling downlight with a matt black metal housing and a single GU10 bulb fitting. The rectangular profile sits 60mm proud of the ceiling, directing light downwards through the open bottom aperture. The GU10 fitting accepts any standard mains-voltage LED or halogen bulb up to 50W (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and beam angle to suit the room.

Designed for surface mounting where recessed downlights cannot be fitted — ceilings with limited void depth, solid concrete ceilings, or positions above joists where cutting in would be impractical — the Emberlux provides focused downlight without requiring modification to the ceiling structure. The compact 200mm height suits hallways, kitchens, utility rooms, and contemporary bedrooms where low-profile task or accent lighting is needed. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible GU10 LED bulb and dimmer switch.

The matt black finish absorbs reflections and pairs cleanly with industrial, minimalist and modern interiors, particularly in spaces with white or light-coloured ceilings where the contrast defines architectural detail. The metal housing provides heat dissipation for the GU10 bulb and the IP20 rating confirms suitability for indoor dry environments only. What bulb does it take?

The Emberlux takes a standard GU10 mains-voltage bulb up to 50W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair it with a 5-7W GU10 LED in 3000K or 4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is preferred.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable GU10 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself supports dimming, but the bulb must also be rated as dimmable for the dimmer to function correctly.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating confirms the Emberlux is suitable for dry indoor environments only. It does not carry the IP44 or IP65 rating required for bathroom zones where moisture or direct water contact is present.

Does it need a ceiling void for installation?

No. The Emberlux is a surface-mount downlight, meaning it sits on top of the ceiling rather than being recessed into it. This makes it suitable for solid concrete ceilings or ceilings with limited void depth where recessed downlights cannot be installed.
