Description

The El is a 35cm black aluminium disc pendant light with an integrated 12W 3000K LED and a cylindrical black canopy suspended on a single cable. The disc sits horizontally, with the LED light source concealed behind a ridged diffuser panel that radiates downward and outward. The cable runs through a matt black cylindrical canopy at ceiling level, then drops vertically through a brass accent ring before connecting to the disc itself.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and breakout spaces, the El suits rooms with ceiling heights between 2.5m and 3.5m. The 128-328cm adjustable drop allows the disc to be set 700-900mm above a dining surface or 1200-1500mm above a kitchen worktop depending on the ceiling height and desired visual weight. The horizontal disc provides both downward task light and a degree of ambient wash across the ceiling, making it useful where a single fitting needs to balance both functions.

The design references El Lissitzky's suprematist work — flat geometric forms arranged in space. The disc itself is cut from aluminium and finished in a low-sheen black that absorbs reflections under daylight. The brass accent ring at the cable junction adds a single warm metallic note without disrupting the monochrome palette. The ridged LED diffuser behind the disc creates a textured light pattern when viewed from below, turning the functional component into part of the visual composition.

Is the El dimmable?

The integrated 12W LED is rated for 220-240V AC mains. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model used. Please contact us before pairing with a dimmer to confirm compatibility.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable 128-328cm drop works in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.5m and 3.5m. For a dining table the disc typically sits 700-900mm above the surface. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the fitting if the cable is shortened during installation.

What colour temperature does it provide?

The integrated LED produces 3000K warm white light. This is a fixed colour temperature — the fitting cannot be changed to cool white or daylight tones.

Can the cable length be adjusted after installation?

The cable length is set during installation by feeding the excess cable through the cylindrical ceiling canopy. Once installed, the length can be adjusted again by accessing the canopy and re-feeding the cable, though this requires partial removal of the fitting from the ceiling rose.
