Description

The Ecliptus is a 36W constant voltage LED driver designed to power 24V LED strips, tape lights and low-voltage fixtures using the 1-10V dimming protocol. The driver converts 230V mains input to a regulated 24V DC output, maintaining stable voltage across the connected LED load while allowing brightness to be controlled via a separate 1-10V dimmer switch or controller.

Designed for residential and light commercial installations where LED strip lighting needs smooth dimming control, the driver fits into ceiling voids, behind coving, inside furniture or within cabinet runs where its 293mm x 43mm profile can be concealed. The 1-10V protocol requires a two-wire control signal separate from the mains input, allowing multiple drivers to be linked to a single dimmer controller for synchronised dimming across zones.

The white plastic housing carries RoHS, SELV and CE markings and an IP20 rating, limiting use to dry indoor environments away from direct water contact. The 36W output supports up to 1.5m of high-density 24W/m LED strip or 3m of 12W/m strip, giving flexibility across under-cabinet lighting, architectural cove lighting and recessed display lighting applications. The driver operates silently with no transformer hum and includes over-current, over-temperature and short-circuit protection.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between 1-10V and phase-cut dimming?

1-10V uses a separate low-voltage control signal (two extra wires) to tell the driver how bright the output should be, giving smoother dimming down to lower levels than phase-cut dimmers. Phase-cut dimmers work directly on the mains input but can cause flicker or minimum brightness issues with some LED drivers.

How much LED strip can this driver power?

The 36W output at 24V gives 1.5A maximum current. This supports approximately 1.5m of 24W/m high-density LED strip, 3m of 12W/m medium-density strip, or 6m of 6W/m low-density strip. Always check the strip's wattage per metre and do not exceed 36W total load.

Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating limits the driver to dry indoor locations away from direct water contact. For bathroom zones 1 or 2, or outdoor use, an IP65 or IP67 rated driver is required.

Does it need a separate dimmer controller?

Yes. The driver accepts a 1-10V control signal but does not include the dimmer switch or controller itself. You need a compatible 1-10V wall dimmer, rotary controller or lighting control system to send the dimming signal to the driver.
