Description
The Dune UGR is a 1595mm linear track light with an integrated 40W LED module running at 4000K neutral white, mounted on a 3-phase track system. The black extruded aluminium housing measures 42mm high by 32mm projection and houses a micro-prismatic diffuser engineered to achieve Unified Glare Rating compliance, reducing direct glare for prolonged exposure environments.
Built for commercial spaces requiring uniform task lighting across extended runs — offices with desk arrays, retail display zones, gallery walls — the 3-phase track system allows multiple Dune units to be wired to separate control circuits on the same track. This means different zones can be switched or dimmed independently without running separate track runs. The 1595mm length provides continuous illumination across workstations, merchandise bays or exhibition panels where spot downlights would create shadows.
The black anodised aluminium body dissipates heat from the 40W LED array without requiring active cooling, keeping the housing surface temperature low enough for ceiling-mounted installation in compliance with IP20 indoor ratings. The 4000K colour temperature sits between warm white (residential) and cool white (clinical), providing neutral task light that renders colours accurately without the yellow cast of 3000K or the blue tint of 5000K. The micro-prismatic optic spreads light evenly along the 1595mm length rather than creating hotspots.
The UGR rating is calculated based on the luminaire's ability to control brightness contrast between the light source and its surroundings when viewed from typical working positions. Lower UGR values reduce eye strain in spaces where users look towards the ceiling regularly — open-plan offices, studios, reception desks. Ideal Lux rates the Dune UGR series for environments requiring UGR <19, making it suitable for workspaces governed by EN 12464-1 office lighting standards.

Frequently Asked
What is UGR and why does it matter?
Unified Glare Rating measures discomfort glare from a luminaire. UGR values below 19 are required for precision work environments under EN 12464-1 office standards. The Dune UGR uses a micro-prismatic diffuser to control brightness and prevent direct LED chip visibility from working positions, reducing eye strain during extended exposure.
What is 3-phase track and how is it different?
3-phase track has three separate circuits running along the same rail, allowing different luminaires (or groups of luminaires) to be controlled independently. This means you can switch or dim different zones without installing multiple separate tracks. Standard single-circuit track puts all fittings on one switch.
Can this be dimmed?
No. The integrated LED driver in this model does not support dimming. If dimming is required, Ideal Lux produces dimmable versions of the Dune track light series — contact us to check current stock of dimmable variants.
What colour temperature is 4000K?
4000K is neutral white, sitting between warm white (2700K-3000K) and cool white (5000K-6500K). It provides clear task light without the yellow tone of warm white or the blue tint of daylight white, making it the standard choice for offices, retail and commercial environments.
