Description

The Dot is a twin-lamp recessed downlight with a tilt mechanism, housed in a matt black aluminium rectangular trim measuring 173mm x 90mm. Each lamp sits in its own square-cut aperture with an adjustable gimbal ring, allowing both beams to be tilted independently up to approximately 30° from vertical. The fitting takes two GU10 bulbs (sold separately) rated up to 50W each, giving a combined maximum output of 100W.

Designed for ceiling installation in kitchens, offices, retail spaces and commercial interiors where directional light is needed from a single ceiling cut-out, the Dot suits applications like accent lighting onto wall displays, task lighting over worktops, or general illumination where two adjustable beams provide better coverage than a single fixed downlight. The recessed depth of 42mm requires adequate ceiling void clearance above the plasterboard, and the rectangular trim provides more lamp separation than round twin-lamp fittings of similar size.

The matt black aluminium trim gives a low-profile finish that sits flush with the ceiling once installed, with the spring clips concealed behind the plasterboard. The tilt rings inside each aperture are also black, maintaining a consistent appearance whether the lamps are tilted or centred. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor soffits. Pairing the fitting with LED GU10 bulbs of 5-7W per lamp provides equivalent output to the 50W halogen rating while reducing heat and energy consumption.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Dot take?

The fitting takes two GU10 bulbs, sold separately, rated up to 50W each. Most installations use LED GU10 bulbs of 5-7W per lamp, which provide equivalent light output to 50W halogen while reducing heat and running costs.

How much ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting projects 42mm above the ceiling trim, so a minimum ceiling void clearance of approximately 60-70mm is recommended to allow space for the lamp housings and wiring connections above the plasterboard.

Can the lamps be angled independently?

Yes. Each lamp sits in its own gimbal ring and can be tilted independently up to approximately 30° from vertical, allowing the two beams to be directed at different points or surfaces.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations with no moisture exposure. For bathroom zones requiring IP44 or IP65 protection, see the bathroom downlight range at Niori.
