Description
The Doreth is a 240mm alabaster pendant light with a tiered dome shade carved from solid Spanish alabaster, suspended on a black fabric flex from a brushed brass conical cap. The shade pairs a wider lower drum with a smaller cylindrical riser at the top, and an open base lets an E27 bulb (sold separately) cast light directly downward as well as glowing through the surrounding stone walls.
At 160mm tall and 240mm wide, the Doreth suits positions where a smaller pendant is needed: above a kitchen island in a row of two or three, over a breakfast bar, beside a bed in place of a wall light, or as a single hanging fixture in a hallway or stairwell. The fabric flex is supplied long enough to set the drop on installation, and the brushed brass cap fits standard UK ceiling roses.
Each shade is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the warm honey veining, cloudy translucency and tonal banding differ between individual pieces. When lit, the stone reveals depth that is invisible when the lamp is off, with denser regions of mineral showing as caramel streaks against the cooler off-white body. The brushed brass cap and matte black flex give the fitting a tighter, more architectural outline than an all-stone pendant.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Doreth take?
The pendant uses a single E27 (Edison screw) lamp, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-9W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the natural honey tones in the alabaster and avoids overheating the stone.
Does the alabaster vary between pieces?
Yes. Each shade is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining patterns, translucency and tonal banding differ between individual pendants. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect, and is most visible when the lamp is switched on.
Where does the Doreth suit best?
At 240mm wide and 160mm tall, it works above kitchen islands and breakfast bars (often grouped in pairs or threes), in hallways and stairwells, or above bedside tables in place of a wall-mounted reading light. The open base means it casts useful task light below as well as ambient glow through the stone.
How is alabaster cleaned?
Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately. Avoid household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners — alabaster is porous and softer than marble, and chemicals can dull or stain the surface.
