Description

The Congress is a single-light wall fitting with a conical clear glass shade suspended beneath a polished chrome gooseneck arm and circular backplate. The shade tapers from a 203mm diameter base to the E27 lampholder, enclosing the bulb in clear glass that allows full visibility of the filament. The chrome arm curves 248mm out from the wall, holding the shade away from the mounting surface.

Designed for hallways, bathrooms (zone permitting), bedside positions and anywhere requiring task or accent lighting on a vertical surface, the Congress pairs retro industrial form with contemporary metal finishing. The clear glass suits decorative filament bulbs (sold separately), while the polished chrome reflects ambient light and works across both traditional and modern interiors. The 286mm height and 248mm projection suit standard wall clearances without dominating narrow corridors.

The lampholder accepts any E27 bulb up to 60W, including LED filament, vintage Edison-style, or standard pear-shaped bulbs depending on the desired aesthetic. The glass shade is hand-blown and shows slight variations in thickness and minor bubbles typical of artisan glasswork. The chrome finish is applied over solid brass components, giving the fitting a substantial 1.2kg weight that anchors securely to masonry or stud walls.

What bulb works best with the clear glass shade?

The shade is designed to show the bulb, so decorative LED filament bulbs in warm white (2700K) give the most appealing result. Standard pear-shaped or globe E27 bulbs also work but lack the visual interest of exposed filaments.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The Congress carries no IP rating and is not certified for bathroom zones. It can be used in a bathroom only if positioned outside the defined wet zones (typically 600mm+ from a shower or bath edge and not above a basin). Check current Building Regulations Part P before installation.

How far does it project from the wall?

The fitting projects 248mm from the wall to the furthest point of the glass shade. Allow clearance for door swings and passage in narrow hallways.

Is the shade replaceable if broken?

Replacement glass shades for the Hinkley Congress range are available separately. Contact us with the SKU (HK-CONGRESS1-A-CM) to order a replacement shade.
