At just 22cm tall and 3.4cm across, our Chimes Short Pendant Light is a slim, compact fitting that slots into spots where a larger light would feel too heavy. This is a single slender wooden cylinder suspended on a cord, so it reads as a neat vertical line rather than a bulky shade. We reach for it above a bedside table, over a kitchen worktop, or clustered at staggered heights above a dining table, and its small 0.42kg weight means it hangs cleanly without pulling on the ceiling. In our view, the pared-back proportions are exactly what make it so easy to place.

Made from oak in a warm Dark Oak colour, the cylinder pairs natural grain with a 3m black cord and a matching metal canopy, giving you plenty of length to set the drop that suits your ceiling. Inside sits a built-in 2W LED panel rated at 3000K and 120 lumen, casting a soft, warm-white glow with a CRI of 80 for honest colour rendering. Please note this lamp is not dimmable. It is rated for around 50000 light hours, so we expect it to keep going for years before you give the LED a second thought. It carries UKCA, CE and IP2X markings, and we back it with our 10-year warranty.

Because the fitting is so light and simple, assembly takes around two minutes, and we include a short video to walk you through it. The Dark Oak colour has a deeper, richer tone that works well against pale walls, matt black brackets or brushed metal shelving, and we like grouping two or three together for a rhythm of vertical lines. To care for the wood, we suggest a dry or barely damp cloth and no harsh cleaners. It is one small piece that quietly earns its place in a room.
