Description

The Chelsea is a handcrafted copper outdoor half lantern measuring 310mm high by 210mm wide, designed to mount flush against exterior walls. The lantern frame is built from solid copper that will develop a natural verdigris patina over months and years of outdoor exposure, changing from the initial bright copper tone through browns and into soft green-blue tones. Two E27 bulb holders inside the clear polycarbonate lens provide space for filament or LED bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately).

Designed for front doors, porch entrances, garage side walls and pathway lighting, the Chelsea's 125mm projection keeps the fitting close to the wall without protruding into walkways. The IP44 rating protects against dust and water splashing from any direction, making the lantern suitable for most UK outdoor locations including exposed coastal areas. The copper body is supported on black powder-coated aluminium brackets with scrolled detailing at the base.

Each Chelsea lantern is hand-assembled from individually cut and formed copper sections, so minor variations in finish and slight imperfections in the metal surface are characteristic of the manufacturing process. The copper is unsealed — it will begin tarnishing within weeks of installation and the patina develops naturally without treatment. The clear polycarbonate lens is impact-resistant and UV-stable, avoiding the yellowing and cracking associated with cheaper acrylic glazing.
