The Chalk Farm is a 615mm table lamp built around a ceramic vase-form base that transitions from light grey at the shoulder to chalk white at the foot. The glaze is smooth and semi-gloss, catching daylight and lamplight alike without the high reflectivity of full gloss finishes. A 360mm ivory faux silk drum shade sits on the base, topped with a polished nickel finial that secures the shade assembly and provides a small metallic accent at the crown.

Designed for bedside tables, console tables in hallways, and sideboards in living rooms, the Chalk Farm provides both ambient and task light depending on the bulb chosen. The 245mm base diameter offers stability on surfaces down to 300mm wide, while the overall 615mm height positions the light source at a comfortable reading height when placed on a typical 600mm-tall bedside table. The E27 socket accepts any standard bulb up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose warm white LED for evening reading or daylight white for task applications.

The gradient from grey to white is achieved through a two-tone glaze application fired onto the ceramic body, so the transition line varies slightly between individual pieces depending on where the glazes meet during firing. The faux silk shade diffuses light evenly while maintaining enough translucency to show the warm glow of a filament or warm LED bulb through the fabric. The polished nickel finial and base plate provide a cool metallic note that balances the warmth of the ivory shade and pairs well with chrome, stainless steel or brushed nickel hardware elsewhere in the room.

The 245mm base diameter needs a surface at least 300mm wide for safe placement. The lamp is stable on bedside tables, console tables and sideboards within this footprint.

Can the shade be replaced?

The 360mm diameter drum shade is attached via a standard harp and finial assembly. Replacement shades with the same drum diameter and a compatible harp fitting can be substituted if needed.
