This over-mirror bathroom wall light gives you the designer look without a high price, in a smart, clean-lined shape moulded from chrome-plated polymer with a frosted opal diffuser. It runs on an integrated 8W LED light source giving around 600 lumens of crisp, daylight-toned light, so there are no bulbs to buy. The fitting measures 400mm long and just 42mm high, projecting 132mm, which keeps it close and unobtrusive above a mirror or basin. It is dimmable when paired with a trailing-edge dimmer, so you can soften the level when you want a calmer light.

The Carlshaw bathroom wall light suits modern bathrooms, en suites and cloakrooms where you want a tidy over-mirror light for everyday grooming tasks. The frosted diffuser spreads the LED output evenly and reduces glare, which is welcome first thing in the morning. It carries an IP44 rating, so it is protected against splashing water and can be fitted in the appropriate bathroom zones, and as a Class 2 fitting it is double insulated and does not need an earth. The dimming option lets it double as gentle background light late in the evening.

With the LED built in, upkeep is minimal; wipe the diffuser and body with a soft, dry cloth now and then to clear splashes and water spots, and steer clear of abrasive cleaners that might dull the surface. To dim it you will need a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch on the circuit. Its plain, modern form is an easy match for chrome taps and accessories, and a larger version is available in the same range if you need a wider light above a bigger mirror.
