Description

The Caldcombe is a single light pendant that gathers clear ribbed glass panels into a compact shade on an antique brass finished frame. At 200mm across it is a small, neat fitting, well suited to spots where a full size pendant would be too much. The ribbed glass diffuses the light and adds a little sparkle, while the brass metalwork keeps it warm. It hangs from an adjustable chain with a gold cable and weighs around 2.7kg.

A small pendant like this is at home in a stairwell, a hallway or over a bedside, and a run of them looks good above a kitchen island or a dining table. The brass and ribbed glass reads classic and understated, so it settles into traditional and modern rooms alike. With a single E27 lamp it gives a focused light, and it is dimmable for softer evenings. A four light version is available in the same range if you need to cover a wider space.

The drop adjusts from 500 to 1900mm during installation, so it can hang high in a hall or lower over a table. It is a Class 1 earthed fitting, so it needs an earth connection and is best installed by a qualified electrician, while its IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor rooms. It takes one E27 lamp of up to 10W. Keep the ribbed glass clear with a soft, dry cloth and wipe the brass gently, switching off at the wall before you start. The chain runs to around 1.5 metres with a gold cable, so there is plenty of length for a stairwell or a higher ceiling.
