Description
The Bridgepoint is a 510mm outdoor wall lantern with a seeded glass globe housed inside a weathered zinc metal cage, mounted on a curved wall bracket with a decorative hanging loop. The lantern takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) behind the glass, which is protected by horizontal and vertical metal ribs forming a traditional ship's lantern cage. The weathered zinc finish is a grey-brown metallic coating applied over aluminium, designed to simulate aged galvanised steel.
Designed for front doors, porch walls, garage entries and covered patios, the Bridgepoint combines nautical and railway lantern references in a format suited to UK exterior styling. The IP44 rating protects against rain splash and dust, making the fitting suitable for locations with some weather exposure but not direct horizontal rain. The 310mm projection from the wall gives the lantern clearance over door frames and cladding details, while the curved bracket and hanging loop add decorative height above the main body.
The seeded glass includes small bubbles and texture variation across the surface, softening the light output and reducing glare when viewed from below. The aluminium construction keeps the weight manageable for standard brick or masonry wall fixing, while the weathered zinc finish provides a darker, earthier tone than polished or brushed metals. The finish may develop further patina variation over time when exposed to outdoor conditions, depending on local humidity and airflow.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP44 protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. The Bridgepoint is suitable for covered porches, under eaves, and wall positions with some shelter, but should not be installed where it receives direct horizontal rain or standing water.
What bulb is recommended?
The lantern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair it with a 6-10W LED filament bulb in 2200K-2700K for a warm amber glow that suits the nautical styling. Clear or amber glass filament bulbs work well with the seeded glass.
How is the weathered zinc finish applied?
The weathered zinc is a factory-applied coating over aluminium, designed to simulate aged galvanised steel. The finish may continue to develop natural patina variation when exposed to outdoor humidity and airflow, which is a characteristic of the material rather than a defect.
What wall fixing is needed?
The lantern mounts via a back plate fixed to the wall with screws and wall plugs (not supplied). Standard brick or masonry fixings are suitable. The total weight including glass is approximately 2-3kg, so the fixing must be into solid masonry or a timber stud, not plasterboard alone.
