Description

The Beacon Square is a white outdoor chain lantern with a square-section composite body framing four panels of clear hammered glass. The 299mm-tall lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the rippled glass, which diffuses the light across the surface. The white finish is applied to a composite material that resists UV degradation, saltwater spray and moisture intrusion to IP44 standard.

Designed for coastal and exposed installations, the lantern hangs on a 1000mm chain that allows drop adjustment between 377mm and 1336mm from the ceiling rose to the base of the fixture. This makes it suitable for covered porches, pergola beams, and entrance canopies where the lantern needs to sit 600-900mm below the ceiling. The E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose filament, LED or halogen light sources depending on the required warmth and brightness.

The composite construction weighs less than equivalent metal lanterns while offering better corrosion resistance in humid, salty or high-UV environments. The clear hammered glass provides visual texture without reducing light output, and the square profile fits cleanly into grid-based architecture and modernised craftsman styles. The white finish pairs neutrally with render, painted timber and coastal colour palettes.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 certification means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, canopies and pergolas, but should not be exposed to direct rain or submersion.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K is recommended. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is the white finish UV-resistant?

Yes. The white composite material is formulated to resist UV degradation, saltwater spray and moisture, making it suitable for coastal installations and high-sun exposure areas where painted metal might fade or corrode.

Can the chain be shortened?

Yes. The 1000mm chain allows the drop to be adjusted between 377mm and 1336mm during installation. Excess chain can be looped inside the ceiling rose or removed depending on your installation requirements.
