Description

The Beacon Assist Call Bedroom Kit is a complete emergency nurse call system for a single bedroom in care homes, hospitals, assisted living and supported accommodation. The kit includes three pull-cord call units (BAPCM), two over-bed call units (BAM), one cancel button (BACM), integrated high-volume sounder and LED indication. The system is designed to connect to a Beacon Assist Call master station, expander or BA4ZM zone module (sold separately).

In a typical bedroom installation, pull-cord units are fitted near the bed, at the en-suite entrance and by the room door, allowing a resident to summon assistance from multiple positions. The two over-bed call units mount above the bed headboard within arm's reach, providing redundancy and accessibility for users with limited mobility. The cancel button allows care staff to acknowledge and reset the call once assistance has been provided. All units can be flush-mounted or surface-mounted using standard 1-gang back boxes (not included).

The high-volume sounder and LED indication provide both audible and visual alerts when a call is activated, improving response times in noisy environments or for hearing-impaired staff. The system is fully compliant with BS8300, the British Standard for designing buildings for inclusive access. Each call unit connects via two-core cable back to the master station or zone module, which then routes alerts to staff handsets or central monitoring panels.

The kit weighs 0.61kg net and ships in a 330mm x 220mm x 65mm package. The brushed stainless-steel faceplates on each call unit provide a durable, hygienic surface that can be wiped down with standard hospital-grade disinfectants.

Frequently Asked

Does this kit work as a standalone system?

No. The Beacon Assist Call Bedroom Kit requires a separate master station, expander or BA4ZM zone module to function. The master station or zone module receives signals from the call units and routes them to staff handsets or central monitoring panels.

What back boxes are needed for installation?

Each call unit fits a standard 1-gang back box, which can be flush-mounted into the wall or surface-mounted. Back boxes are not included in the kit and must be purchased separately. The kit contains six units in total, so six back boxes are required.

Is the system compliant with accessibility standards?

Yes. The Beacon Assist Call system is fully compliant with BS8300, the British Standard for inclusive design in buildings. This ensures the call units are accessible to users with a range of physical and sensory abilities.

How are the call units wired?

Each call unit connects via two-core cable back to the master station, expander or BA4ZM zone module. The wiring can be run in conduit or trunking depending on the installation environment. Full wiring diagrams are provided in the product manual (see Downloads tab).
