Description
The Beacon pull cord module is a stainless steel wall-mounted unit designed for accessible toilet alarm systems, compatible with the ESP UDTAKITSS alarm kit. A 10ft red pull cord runs from the module through a central aperture, terminated with two pull handles that allow users to trigger the alarm from floor level or from a seated position. The unit measures 92mm square and projects 72mm from the wall when fitted.
Designed for installation in accessible toilets, hospital bathrooms, care facilities and DDA-compliant washrooms, the module pairs with the UDTAKITSS central control unit to provide emergency call functionality. When the cord is pulled, a clear LED illuminates on the module face and the central alarm unit sounds. The cord incorporates an anti-ligature mechanism that prevents the cord from being used as a fixing point under sustained load, meeting safety requirements for mental health and secure care environments.
The brushed stainless steel faceplate resists corrosion in damp bathroom environments and can be wiped down with standard cleaning agents. The red pull cord provides high visual contrast against typical bathroom wall colours, making it easy to locate in low light or for users with limited vision. Two pull handles are supplied with the module — one circular handle for the end of the cord at floor level and one T-bar handle for waist height mounting, allowing installation to be configured to suit different user requirements.

Frequently Asked
What alarm system does this module work with?
This pull cord module is designed for use with the ESP UDTAKITSS accessible toilet alarm kit. It cannot be used as a standalone device and must be wired to the central control unit supplied in that kit.
What is the anti-ligature mechanism?
The cord is designed to release from the module under sustained load, preventing it from being used as a fixed anchor point. This safety feature is required in mental health facilities, secure care environments and other settings where ligature risks must be minimised.
How is the cord length adjusted during installation?
The 10ft cord can be trimmed to the required length before attaching the pull handles. Typically the end handle is positioned 100-150mm above floor level, with the optional T-bar handle fitted at waist height if needed.
Can the stainless steel faceplate be cleaned with standard bathroom cleaners?
Yes. The brushed stainless steel finish is resistant to moisture and can be wiped down with most non-abrasive bathroom cleaners. Avoid scouring pads or harsh acidic cleaners that could damage the brushed finish.
