Description

The Basfor is a 255mm crystal wall light built around a bowl-shaped frame of diamond-cut crystal beads layered in horizontal tiers, mounted on an antique nickel metal backplate. Two E14 bulbs sit behind the crystal bowl (bulbs sold separately), casting light through the faceted beads and throwing prismatic reflections across adjacent wall surfaces.

Designed for hallways, bedroom walls flanking a bed, or either side of a fireplace in a living room, the Basfor provides directional wall wash and decorative sparkle without the drop height of a pendant. The 125mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of circulation routes in corridors, while the compact 255mm width suits alcoves and chimney breast returns where a wider fitting would overpower the space. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations.

Each tier of crystal beads is hand-hung on the metal frame, creating a dense cascade that obscures the bulb itself when viewed from the front but allows light to pass through the gaps between individual facets. The antique nickel finish on the metal frame and backplate gives a warmer, slightly aged tone compared to polished chrome, pairing with both neutral interiors and warmer brass or gold accents elsewhere in the room. At maximum 2 x 60W the fitting provides enough output for functional hallway lighting or bedside task light when paired with the correct bulb choice.

What bulbs does the Basfor take?

The fitting takes two E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K to avoid harsh glare through the crystal.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only, not bathrooms or areas exposed to moisture.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off at the mains and allow bulbs to cool completely. Wipe each crystal bead gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal frame and do not use spray cleaners or polishes.

What wall fixing is needed?

The backplate mounts to a standard UK wall box or directly to a solid wall using the fixings included in the box. On plasterboard walls, use appropriate cavity fixings rated to support the combined weight of the metal frame and crystal beads.
