Description
In our view, a good highboard earns its place by pulling clutter out of sight while giving a room something worth looking at, and this is exactly what we set out to do here. Standing 100cm tall and 120cm wide, it holds books, glassware, table linen or the odd tangle of chargers behind closed doors, then hands you a clear surface up top for the things you actually want on show. Set it against a bare wall in a hallway, use it to anchor one end of a dining space, or let it hold a table lamp base and a few framed prints in the living room. Wherever it lands, it gives you order without asking for much floor space in return.
The shape is what we like most about it. Rather than a flat front, this highboard has a gently rounded body wrapped in fluted tambour doors, so the light catches every ridge and softens the whole outline. It sits on four round tapered legs that lift it clear of the floor and keep the look light rather than boxy. The White Sands colour is a soft, pale neutral that settles easily into calm, bright rooms, and the warm oak of the legs and top grounds it. It is made from solid oak, oak veneer, solid beech and MDF, with polyester and artificial leather detailing, so the piece feels solid at 28.9kg while staying easy to live with.
Inside, each shelf takes up to 15kg when the weight is spread evenly, and the top holds up to 50kg on the same basis, which covers most everyday loads with room to spare. Depth is a manageable 50cm, so it tucks in without dominating. Assembly takes us around 30 minutes, and we think you will find it just as quick at home.
