Description

At just 12cm in diameter, our Asteria spot is a compact wall/ceiling light that suits tight corners, low ceilings and the spots where a larger fitting would feel heavy. Its height adjusts between 14.1cm and 17.8cm, so we can angle the shallow round head towards a reading chair, a piece of artwork or a run of shelving. The head sits on a short knuckled arm rising from a round plate, and at 0.59kg it is light enough to mount on either a wall or a ceiling without fuss. We finish this one in Plated Brass, a warm gold tone that reads softly against pale and darker walls alike.

The lamp is built from aluminium and steel, and the moving knuckle lets us reset the beam whenever a room changes around it. Inside sits a 6W COB LED spot with the driver built in, giving 500 lumen at 3000K, a warm white that stays easy on the eye through the evening. With a CRI of 91, colours look true under it, which helps when the lamp is picking out a painting or a shelf of books. It is rated for around 30000 light hours, and it works with an external dimmer if you want to bring the level down late in the day. This is a surface mounted lamp for indoor use only.

Fitting takes us about 20 minutes, and the Asteria can be installed recessed or mounted directly on the surface, so it fits both new plaster and existing ceilings.
