Description

This outdoor wall lantern adds a built-in PIR sensor to a classic exterior shape, so the light switches on automatically when it detects movement and turns off again after a set time. The frame is matt black die-cast aluminium with clear glass panels and decorative details, and it measures 460mm tall and 235mm wide with a 265mm projection. The sensor has an adjustable detection angle of around 120 degrees and a timer that holds the light on from a few seconds up to several minutes. It takes a single E27 bulb rated up to 60W, ideally a filament LED lamp for a warm, traditional glow.

The Ashshaw sensor lantern is a practical choice for a front door, driveway, side passage or back garden where you want light to greet you as you arrive and help with security when you are away. The automatic switching means you are not fumbling for a switch with your hands full, and the light only runs when needed. Its IP44 rating means it is protected against splashing water for exposed outdoor use, and as a Class 1 fitting it must be earthed and installed by a qualified electrician. The adjustable sensor lets you fine-tune how wide and how long the light responds.

Keep the sensor lens and glass clean with a soft, damp cloth so movement is detected reliably, and clear away cobwebs or leaves that could trigger it. Wipe the black metalwork occasionally to remove salt and dust on an exposed wall, and check the fixings from time to time. This sensor lantern is part of a wider outdoor range that also includes a plain wall lantern and a flush coach lantern, so you can pair an automatic light at the entrance with matching manual fittings elsewhere.
