The Arion-2 is a 602mm wide dome-shaped metal ceiling lampshade in a matte white finish. Designed by Ideal Lux as a pendant conversion shade or ceiling rose cover, it provides broad light diffusion across large rooms without a fixed fitting. The shade mounts directly to a ceiling rose or pendant suspension kit (sold separately), concealing the bulb holder and cable run behind the wide metal dome.

Suited to dining rooms, living rooms, entrance halls and kitchens with ceiling heights of 2.5m or above, the Arion-2 works as a minimalist ceiling cover where ambient rather than decorative light is needed. The 602mm diameter spreads light across approximately 12-16m² of floor area when paired with a 15-20W LED bulb, avoiding the concentrated pool of light from a small shade or bare bulb. The shade sits 100-150mm below the ceiling rose depending on the suspension kit used, giving a low-profile presence suitable for rooms where a full pendant drop would overwhelm the space.

The matte white finish on the metal reflects soft ambient light back into the room and pairs neutrally with white, off-white and light-grey ceilings, making the shade itself less visually prominent than gloss or metallic finishes. The wide dome profile suits contemporary, Scandinavian and minimalist interiors where clean geometric forms are preferred over decorative fittings. Does this include a bulb holder or suspension kit?

No. The Arion-2 is a lampshade only. It requires a separate ceiling rose, pendant suspension kit or conversion bracket to mount to the ceiling. Most UK ceiling roses with E27 or B22 bulb holders are compatible.

What size room does the 602mm shade suit?

Can it be used with LED bulbs?

How is the shade cleaned?

Wipe the metal surface with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal or using abrasive cleaners that could damage the matte finish.
