Description

The Amelia is a 324mm pendant light combining an opal glass dome with a heritage brass canopy, stem and trim ring. A cast metal fitter joins the glass to the brass frame, while an etched prismatic lens at the base of the dome creates pattern and texture when the light is on. The pendant takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and hangs on an adjustable drop between 420mm and 1100mm.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and hallway positions where a single pendant provides both task and ambient light, the Amelia suits traditional, industrial and farmhouse interiors where brass and white glass are established finishes. The 324mm diameter works over islands 900-1200mm wide or above circular dining tables seating four. The adjustable drop allows the pendant to be set 700-800mm above a worktop or table surface, or higher in entrance halls with 3m+ ceiling heights.

The opal glass diffuses the bulb into soft general light, while the etched prismatic lens at the base adds textural detail and prevents direct glare when viewed from below. The heritage brass finish has a warmer, slightly aged tone compared to polished brass, with subtle variations in the metal that develop further with handling and time. The cast metal trim ring and fitter add weight and presence — the assembled pendant is heavier than pressed-metal alternatives in the same diameter, giving a more substantial feel once hung.

The glass dome is a single moulded piece with no visible seams. The brass components are lacquered to slow tarnishing, though natural patina will develop on unlacquered areas over time. The pendant is supplied with a round brass canopy that fits standard UK ceiling roses and conceals the cable entry point. Installation requires connection to mains 230V wiring and is typically completed by a qualified electrician.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Amelia take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient dining or kitchen island lighting.

Is the drop adjustable after installation?

The drop is adjustable during installation between 420mm and 1100mm by shortening or extending the suspension rod and cable. Once installed, the drop is fixed unless the pendant is taken down and re-fitted.

What's the difference between heritage brass and polished brass?

Heritage brass has a warmer, slightly aged tone with subtle variations in the metal surface. Polished brass is brighter and more reflective. Both finishes will develop natural patina over time unless regularly polished.

Can the glass dome be cleaned?

Yes. The opal glass and prismatic lens can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and mild detergent. Disconnect the power before cleaning and allow the bulb to cool. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could scratch the glass or etched lens.
