Description

The Hinkley Ainsley is a 2 light wall bracket in brushed brass with a pair of cased opal glass shades mounted on turned brass cups. Two 3W G9 LED bulbs (included) sit inside the opal glass, which diffuses the light into a soft, even glow. The fitting carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, as well as hallways, landings and bedroom wall positions.

Designed for residential installation, the Ainsley mounts directly onto a standard UK wall plate with a central backplate of 102mm diameter and a horizontal arm extending 406mm across the wall. The projection from the wall to the front of each glass shade is 206mm, positioning the light source forward enough to avoid casting the user's shadow when fitted either side of a bathroom mirror or above a washbasin. The brushed brass finish on the metalwork softens reflections and pairs well with brass taps, towel rails and traditional bathroom fittings.

Each glass shade is a double-layered construction: an outer clear glass layer encases an inner layer of white opal glass, creating depth and a subtle halo effect when the lamp is lit. The turned brass cups that hold each shade feature decorative ribbing on the upper section, giving the fitting a period-inspired aesthetic that works in both traditional and transitional interiors. The included 3W G9 LEDs provide warm 3000K light output, which reduces the blue tone common in cooler LED fittings and creates a more comfortable wash light for bathroom mirrors and bedroom walls.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The Ainsley carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 60cm from the bath or shower head). It should not be installed in zone 0 or zone 1 (inside the shower cubicle or directly above the bath).

Are the bulbs replaceable?

Yes. The fitting comes with two 3W G9 LED bulbs, but these can be replaced if they fail or if you prefer a different colour temperature. The glass shades unscrew from the turned brass cups to access the G9 sockets.

What wall clearance is needed?

The fitting projects 206mm from the wall to the front of the glass shades. Allow at least 250mm clearance in front of the fitting to avoid the shades being knocked when walking past, particularly in narrower hallways or bathrooms.

Is it dimmable?

The included 3W G9 LED bulbs are not dimmable. If you require dimming, you would need to replace them with dimmable G9 LED bulbs and pair the fitting with a compatible LED dimmer switch.
