Description

The Ainsley is a single-light wall light from Hinkley combining a retro-modern turned brass cup with a cased opal glass shade. The fitting takes a G9 capsule bulb (included — 3W LED at 3000K) which sits inside the glass shade, diffusing warm white light through the opal glass. The brushed brass metalwork includes a turned ball finial at the top of the shade holder and a matching brushed brass backplate.

Designed for bathrooms, hallways, beside bedroom mirrors and as flanking lights on either side of a chimney breast, the Ainsley carries an IP44 rating making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3. The 206mm projection from the wall places the light forward enough to act as task lighting over a vanity or sink without dominating narrower hallways. The 160mm width and 191mm height keep the fitting compact enough for spaces with limited wall area.

The brushed brass finish has a warm, mid-tone gold appearance with visible brushing marks that soften reflections under both daylight and artificial light. The opal cased glass is a multi-layer construction with white glass on the inside and clear on the outside, giving a smooth diffusion without visible hot-spotting from the LED. The turned brass cup detail at the top of the shade holder references early-1900s electric fittings while the overall proportions remain compact and suitable for contemporary interiors.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 — areas outside the immediate shower/bath enclosure where water spray is indirect. It should not be installed directly inside a shower cubicle or within 60cm of a bath tap (zone 1).

Does it come with a bulb?

Yes. The Ainsley includes one 3W G9 LED bulb at 3000K colour temperature. The bulb is user-replaceable if needed in future.

What projection does it have from the wall?

The fitting projects 206mm from the wall surface. In narrower hallways or beside doorways, check that this projection does not obstruct movement or interfere with door swings.

Is the brass finish lacquered?

Hinkley typically applies a protective lacquer to brushed brass finishes to prevent tarnishing. The finish can be wiped clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads which may damage the lacquer.
