Description

The Abstract is a 460mm white pendant light built from concentric metal rings that spiral around a central E27 bulb holder. The rings create a spherical cage structure, with each ring offset and rotated to form an orbital pattern that gives the fitting its sculptural form. The white powder-coated metal finish covers both the rings and the canopy, presenting as a single unified piece when suspended.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and hallway drop zones with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Abstract works best when viewed from below or at eye level where the ring structure is most visible. The 440mm total height including canopy suits standard UK ceiling roses, and the cable length can be adjusted during installation to set the drop between 600-1200mm depending on the space. The E27 bulb sits exposed at the centre, so a visible-filament LED or globe bulb is recommended to complete the aesthetic.

The concentric ring construction means light escapes in all directions through the gaps between the metal bands, creating both direct downlight from the bulb and softer reflected patterns on the ceiling and walls from light bouncing off the inner surfaces of the rings. The white finish softens shadows and pairs cleanly with white ceilings and neutral interiors. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible E27 LED bulb and dimmer switch, allowing the brightness to be adjusted from ambient wash to focused task light.

What bulb does it take and is one included?

The Abstract takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. No bulb is included. Most users pair this with a visible-filament LED globe bulb between 4-8W and 2700K to suit the exposed bulb position and white finish.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable. Actual dimming depends on pairing it with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. Standard non-dimmable LEDs will not dim even if the fitting is rated for it.

What size room does the 460mm diameter suit?

A 460mm pendant works well over a dining table for four, a kitchen island up to 1.5m long, or as a feature piece in a hallway or entrance area. In smaller rooms under 3m x 3m it provides sufficient ambient light; larger open-plan spaces may need additional fittings.

Can it be installed in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is designed for dry indoor areas only and offers no protection against moisture ingress. It is not suitable for bathroom zones or outdoor use.
