Description

Our workshop starts this lounge chair with solid oak, building an open frame with four splayed legs braced by cross-rails, then setting a moulded plywood shell above it. That shell curves in a single sweep to form both seat and back, and we cushion it with PUR foam for its give before covering it in a hard-wearing polyester textile. We finished the oak in Black, a deep even tone that reads right across the frame, while the seat sits low and gently reclined for the kind of easy sitting we keep coming back to. At 83cm high and 70cm deep, it holds a compact footprint without feeling small to sit in.

The shape here is relaxed rather than upright. There is no wing, no high back and no reclining mechanism, just a shell that supports the shoulders and a seat set close to the floor. We like it beside a reading lamp or pulled up near a table lamp base in a corner, and it works as a second seat in a bedroom as readily as in a sitting room. This is a single specification, so the Black oak and the Black polyester covering you see are exactly what arrives. The weight stays low too, which matters when we want to shift a chair without calling for help.
