Description
The Knightsbridge AMLEDWP is a 5W LED outdoor bulkhead with an integrated photocell daylight sensor that automatically switches the light on at dusk and off at dawn. The fitting houses an SMD LED array behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser, delivering 460lm at 4000K cool white through a 120° beam angle. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered outdoor positions such as porches, rear entrances, sheds, and garage exteriors.
Designed for security and low-level continuous lighting, the bulkhead provides automated illumination without needing manual switching or timer programming. The daylight sensor is calibrated for exterior use only and will not function reliably indoors where ambient light levels differ. The white polycarbonate base and diffuser resist impact and UV degradation better than acrylic alternatives, maintaining clarity and colour stability across the rated 60,000-hour L70B50 lifespan.
The bulkhead measures 197mm x 108mm with a 78mm projection from the wall, fitting standard outdoor electrical boxes. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation, simplifying wiring in older properties. The opal diffuser spreads light evenly across doorways and pathways without harsh glare, while the 100lm/W efficacy keeps running costs low for fixtures that operate through the night.

Frequently Asked
How does the daylight sensor work?
The integrated photocell detects ambient light levels and automatically switches the bulkhead on at dusk and off at dawn. The sensor is calibrated for exterior use only and will not function reliably if installed indoors where ambient light levels differ from natural daylight cycles.
What does IP54 mean for outdoor use?
IP54 means the bulkhead is protected against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for covered outdoor positions such as porches, rear entrances, sheds and garage exteriors, but should not be exposed to sustained direct rainfall or submersion.
Is the LED replaceable?
No. The 5W SMD LED array is integrated into the bulkhead and cannot be replaced. The rated L70B50 lifespan of 60,000 hours means the LED will still produce at least 70% of its original output after approximately 6.8 years of continuous operation.
Can it be used indoors?
The bulkhead itself can be installed indoors for general lighting, but the daylight sensor will not function reliably in indoor environments where artificial lighting affects ambient light levels. For indoor use without automatic switching, consider a standard bulkhead without a photocell.
