Description
The Knightsbridge BT20ACTEM is a 20W IP65-rated LED bulkhead with CCT switching between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K, and a 3-hour maintained emergency function. The 380mm diameter white polycarbonate housing mounts to walls or ceilings and carries an opal diffuser that spreads light across a 115-degree beam. The integrated SMD LED delivers 1730lm at 3000K, 1930lm at 4000K, or 1855lm at 5700K, with 190lm output in emergency mode.
Designed for commercial buildings, stairwells, corridors, car parks and external walkways where IP65 protection and emergency lighting are required by regulation, the bulkhead combines general lighting and emergency backup in a single fitting. The CCT switch on the LED gear tray allows the colour temperature to be set at installation, so a single SKU can serve warm-white retail environments (3000K), neutral office lighting (4000K), or cool-white industrial spaces (5700K). The maintained emergency function keeps the light on at all times, switching to battery power during mains failure and providing 3 hours of 190lm output for safe egress.
The polycarbonate construction resists impact (Class II) and the IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for both internal and external mounting in exposed conditions. The hinged LED gear tray opens for access to the push-fit terminal block and CCT switch without removing the entire fitting from the wall or ceiling. At 81mm projection from the mounting surface, the low-profile design suits areas with restricted headroom or where a flush appearance is required.
The SMD LED has an L70B50 rating of 50,000 hours, meaning the fitting maintains 70% of its initial output after 50,000 hours of operation (approximately 11 years at 12 hours per day). The 5-year warranty covers the LED and driver but excludes the emergency battery, which degrades over time and may need replacing depending on usage frequency and ambient temperature.

Frequently Asked
What does CCT adjustable mean?
CCT (Correlated Colour Temperature) switching allows you to choose between three colour temperatures at installation: 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, or 5700K cool white. A switch on the LED gear tray sets the temperature before the fitting is closed up. The setting cannot be changed remotely once installed.
What is maintained emergency mode?
In maintained emergency mode, the fitting stays on at all times when mains power is present. If mains power fails, the internal battery takes over and continues to power the light at 190lm for 3 hours. This is required in areas like corridors and exits where the light must always be visible.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, so the bulkhead can be mounted on external walls, soffits, car park ceilings and covered walkways. Avoid locations where the fitting would be fully submerged.
How is the CCT setting changed?
The hinged LED gear tray inside the bulkhead has a small switch labelled with the three colour temperatures. Open the tray, set the switch to the desired temperature, close the tray and test the output before final installation. The switch is not accessible once the fitting is closed without opening the housing again.
