Description

The Knightsbridge Sherpa is an 18W outdoor LED bulkhead with a built-in photocell daylight sensor, a CCT-adjustable LED gear tray offering 3000K, 4000K or 6000K light output, and an IP65-rated die-cast aluminium body with a polycarbonate diffuser. The photocell switches the bulkhead on at dusk and off at dawn automatically, removing the need for manual switching or timers.

Designed for exterior wall and ceiling mounting in residential, commercial and industrial settings, the bulkhead suits building entrances, car parks, walkways, loading bays, stairwells and public spaces where consistent illumination and low maintenance are required. The 360mm diameter and 92mm projection give a substantial wall presence without excessive protrusion, and the opal diffuser spreads a 110-degree beam angle evenly across surfaces without visible hotspots.

The die-cast aluminium body provides impact resistance and corrosion protection in coastal and urban environments, while the polycarbonate diffuser and fixings add anti-vandal protection against tampering and deliberate damage. The CCT adjustment is set on installation by selecting one of three positions on the LED gear tray: 3000K warm white (1680 lumens), 4000K neutral white (1790 lumens), or 6000K cool white (1810 lumens), allowing the light temperature to match the building's existing exterior lighting scheme.

The LED module delivers 50,000 hours L70B50 life expectancy at 132.6 lm/W efficacy and carries a 5-year warranty. The constant current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains without dimmer compatibility. The Class I rating requires earthing on installation.

How does the daylight sensor work?

The integral photocell detects ambient light levels and switches the bulkhead on automatically at dusk and off at dawn. No manual intervention or timer programming is needed once installed and powered.

How do I select the colour temperature?

The CCT is set on installation by selecting one of three positions on the LED gear tray inside the fitting: 3000K for warm white (1680 lumens), 4000K for neutral white (1790 lumens), or 6000K for cool white (1810 lumens). Once set, the colour temperature remains fixed.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

The die-cast aluminium body and IP65 rating protect against salt spray, moisture ingress and dust. The black powder-coated finish resists corrosion in coastal and marine environments, though regular cleaning will prolong the finish in high-salt areas.

Can it be dimmed?

No. The constant current LED driver does not support dimmer switches or dimming control systems. The photocell provides on/off switching only, not dimming functionality.
