Description

The Knightsbridge 18W LED eyelid bulkhead combines a 360mm die-cast aluminium body in black with an opal polycarbonate diffuser and a directional eyelid hood that reduces glare while casting light downward and outward. The integrated LED gear tray offers three selectable colour temperatures — 3000K (1020lm), 4000K (1080lm), and 6000K (1090lm) — set via a switch on the rear before installation, allowing the same fitting to provide warm white for residential settings or cool white for commercial or security applications.

Rated IP65, the bulkhead is fully protected against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making it suitable for exposed outdoor positions including garden walls, building exteriors, covered walkways, car parks and loading bays. The anti-vandal polycarbonate diffuser and fixings resist impact in public spaces and high-traffic areas. The eyelid design directs the 110° beam angle downward, reducing upward light spill and providing functional task lighting rather than ambient wash.

The die-cast aluminium construction gives the fitting a robust 1.8kg weight, with a 94mm projection from the wall once surface-mounted. The black powder-coated finish is UV-stable and corrosion-resistant in coastal and industrial environments. The LED is rated for 50,000 hours at L70B50 (the point at which 50% of units will still emit at least 70% of original output), which translates to approximately 11 years of continuous operation or significantly longer under typical dusk-to-dawn use.

What does CCT switching mean?

CCT (Correlated Colour Temperature) switching allows you to choose between three light colours before installation: 3000K warm white (1020lm), 4000K neutral white (1080lm), or 6000K cool white (1090lm). The selection is made via a switch on the rear of the fitting and cannot be changed once the bulkhead is wired and mounted.

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 provides full protection against dust ingress and water jets from any direction. The bulkhead can be mounted on fully exposed exterior walls, including positions subject to rain, garden hose spray, and coastal salt spray, without internal moisture damage.

Is the eyelid removable?

No. The eyelid hood is a fixed part of the housing design and cannot be removed. It directs light downward and outward while reducing upward glare and light spill into neighbouring properties or the night sky.

How is the bulkhead mounted?

Surface-mounted onto an exterior wall using the fixing points on the rear plate. The fitting protrudes 94mm from the wall once installed. Standard UK mains wiring (230V) connects via a terminal block inside the rear housing before the diffuser is secured.
