Description

The Knightsbridge SHE2GEM is an 18W LED bulkhead with an eyelid cowl that directs light downwards while reducing glare from eye level. The fitting houses an integrated emergency lighting system that provides maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency operation during mains failure, delivering 105-120 lumens in emergency mode. The CCT-adjustable LED gear tray allows selection between 3000K (1020lm), 4000K (1080lm) and 6000K (1090lm) at installation, set via a switch on the driver.

Designed for external installation on building perimeters, communal pathways, car parks and stairwells where both functional and emergency lighting is required, the bulkhead carries an IP65 rating for protection against dust ingress and water jets from any direction. The die-cast aluminium body withstands impact and weather exposure, while the opal polycarbonate diffuser resists breakage and yellowing under UV. The grey powder-coated finish provides a neutral backdrop for commercial, industrial and public sector installations.

The 360mm diameter and 94mm projection suit surface mounting on walls or soffits, with fixing points concealed behind the cowl. The 110° beam angle provides wide-area coverage suitable for illuminating 3-4m pathways or 2.5m-wide doorways when mounted at 2.5-3m height. The bulkhead supports three emergency modes: maintained (LED stays on continuously, switching to battery during mains failure), non-maintained (LED activates only during mains failure), and switched (can be manually switched off but activates during mains failure). The mode is set during installation via the driver configuration.

How is the colour temperature adjusted?

The CCT is selected at installation via a switch on the LED driver, offering 3000K warm white (1020lm), 4000K neutral white (1080lm), or 6000K cool white (1090lm). Once set, the colour temperature remains fixed during operation and cannot be changed without accessing the driver.

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 indicates the bulkhead is fully dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It can be installed in exposed outdoor locations subject to rain, hose washing or coastal spray, but is not rated for submersion or direct pressure washing at close range.

How often does the emergency battery need replacing?

Emergency battery lifespan depends on usage patterns and ambient temperature, but typically requires replacement every 3-4 years. The 5-year warranty on the bulkhead excludes the battery.
