Description

The Knightsbridge E27PR is a 100W outdoor bulkhead light with a red prismatic polycarbonate cover fitted to a grey aluminium base measuring 240mm x 105mm. The IP65 rating protects the E27 lampholder from dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making it suitable for external wall mounting in gardens, pathways, loading bays and entrance canopies exposed to rain.

The red prismatic cover serves dual purposes: it diffuses the light output from the bulb to reduce glare, and it provides a coloured signal function where red lighting indicates restricted zones, emergency exits, or decorative accent lighting in hospitality and commercial settings. The 110mm projection from the wall gives clearance for larger E27 globe or GLS bulbs. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

The aluminium base provides corrosion resistance in outdoor environments and accepts standard UK back box wiring terminations. The polycarbonate cover is impact-resistant and secured with two visible screws, allowing bulb replacement without removing the entire fitting from the wall. Dimming capability depends on the bulb selected — pairing with a dimmable E27 LED allows output adjustment via compatible wall dimmers.

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 rating means the bulkhead is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It can be mounted on external walls exposed to rain but should not be submerged or installed where it will be under constant water flow such as beneath a broken gutter outlet.

What bulb should I use?

The E27 lampholder accepts standard Edison screw bulbs up to 100W. Most users fit a 10-15W LED E27 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) or a red-tinted E27 LED if a deeper red output is required. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is the red cover removable?

Yes. The red prismatic polycarbonate cover is secured with two screws and can be removed for bulb replacement or cleaning. The cover clips back onto the grey aluminium base once the screws are re-tightened.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the bulb fitted. If you install a dimmable E27 LED and pair it with a compatible wall dimmer, the light output can be adjusted. Non-dimmable bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if connected to a dimmer circuit.
