Description
The Spear is an 80cm tall spike light with a narrow 10mm diameter metal stem finished in graphite, housing an integrated 1W LED at the head. The LED emits 3000K warm white light through a white acrylic diffuser that spreads a soft upward wash across nearby planting, tree trunks, or architectural features. The spike runs on 24V DC low-voltage systems and carries an IP65 rating for outdoor use in rain, dust and frost.
Designed for garden border lighting, pathway edges and feature uplighting, the Spear is pushed directly into soil or soft ground using the pointed base spike. The 80cm height positions the light head at waist level for an adult, which suits uplighting medium shrubs, small trees, tall grasses and garden sculpture. Multiple Spear lights can be wired to a single 24V transformer, allowing runs of spike lights along borders or driveways without individual mains connections at each fitting.
The graphite finish is a charcoal grey metallic coating applied to the steel stem, giving a subdued appearance in daylight that recedes into planting rather than standing out as a visible feature. The 1W output at 3000K provides accent lighting rather than functional path illumination — pair with higher-output spikes or bollards where walking surfaces need to be clearly lit. The CRI of 80 renders greens, reds and browns in garden planting with reasonable accuracy under night lighting.

Frequently Asked
What type of transformer is required?
The Spear runs on a 24V DC low-voltage system. You need a mains-to-24V DC transformer rated for the total wattage of all lights connected to it. Multiple Spear lights can share a single transformer provided the combined load does not exceed the transformer's rated output.
Can it be used in border planting and lawns?
Yes. The spike base is designed to be pushed into soil, mulch or turf. In compacted ground or clay soil, you may need to pre-drill a pilot hole with a metal rod to avoid bending the spike during installation.
Is 1W bright enough for path lighting?
The 1W output at 3000K is designed as accent or feature lighting — it will uplight a small shrub or create a wash on a wall, but does not provide enough brightness to illuminate a path surface for safe walking. For functional path lighting, pair the Spear with higher-output bollards or spike lights rated at 3W or above.
What does the IP65 rating mean?
IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. It can be left outdoors year-round in UK weather, including rain, snow and frost, without damage to the internal components.
