Description
Metz is a full length mirror 84cm by 184cm in a moulded frame with a stepped profile, finished in a broken silver that lets a darker ground show through where the moulding turns. The frame steps down in three stages from its outer edge to the glass, which is what gives it depth from across a room rather than only close up.
At 184cm tall it is meant to stand in for a proper looking glass, in a bedroom or at the end of a hall. The ornate profile carries an older room without much else on the walls, and the silver keeps it cooler than a gilt frame would be. It hangs either way up, portrait or landscape, so a wide wall can take it lying down. It is rated for a bathroom. The mirror weighs 20kg and is only 2cm deep, and it comes with two hooks and plugs rather than screws, which suits a plasterboard wall better than masonry.
The frame is moulded composite rather than carved wood or cast metal, which is why a mirror this size stays at 20kg and why the finish is even all the way round with no grain to match. Dust it dry and clean the glass with cleaner on a cloth, keeping the damp off the moulding itself, since a rubbed finish is the part of a frame like this that wears first. Nothing needs assembling. Two people make the hanging easier, mostly because of the length rather than the weight.

Frequently Asked
What is the frame made of?
Moulded composite with a silver finish, which is why a 184cm mirror stays at 20kg.
Is the silver meant to look worn?
Yes. A darker ground shows through where the moulding turns, which is what gives it depth.
Can it hang landscape?
Yes, either way up.
What fixings come with it?
Two hooks and plugs, which suit plasterboard better than masonry.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
Yes, it is rated bathroom proof, though keep damp off the frame itself.
