Description
This is the Beetalis cushion, a rectangular velvet cushion measuring 30 by 50cm and printed with a trio of colourful, iridescent beetles across a deep teal-green ground. Two of the beetles are drawn with striped, brush-marked shells in orange, green and pink, while the central beetle sits between them with a spotted back. The print is on soft velvet, and the whole cushion is finished with a contrasting piped edge in bright pink that runs right around the seam and frames the front face.
A lumbar cushion at 30 by 50cm sits differently from a square one. This is the shape that fills the small of your back on a sofa or props comfortably behind you in an armchair, and the long, low proportion makes it a good choice laid along the head of a bed or worked into a row of mixed cushions where you want something to break up the squares. The green ground and the pink piping give you two colours to pull on when you are building a scheme, so it can sit against neutral upholstery and do the work of adding colour, or echo a bolder room. If you like the beetles, the supplier makes a matching Beetalis duvet set to pair it with.
The cover is velvet, which has a short, dense pile that catches the light and gives the print its depth, and a plain velvet reverse in the same teal so the cushion looks considered from both sides. The piped edge is a length of cord wrapped in the contrast fabric and sewn into the seam, which firms up the edge and holds the rectangular shape. Being polyester, the velvet is hard-wearing and holds its colour well. Style it with plain cushions in the greens and pinks the print already carries, and let the beetles be the thing people look at.

Frequently Asked
What size is this cushion?
It measures 30 by 50cm, a rectangular lumbar shape rather than a square, which suits the small of your back or a row of mixed cushions.
Is the beetle print on both sides?
No, the beetles are printed on the front only. The reverse is plain teal velvet in the same tone, so it looks tidy whichever way it faces.
What is the cover made from?
The cover is 100 per cent polyester velvet, which has a short dense pile that catches the light and gives the printed beetles their depth and colour.
What is the piped edge?
It is a cord wrapped in a contrasting pink fabric and sewn into the seam all the way round, which firms up the edge and holds the rectangular shape.
What can I pair it with?
The green ground and pink piping give you two colours to build on, and the supplier makes a matching Beetalis duvet set if you want the print elsewhere too.
