Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch pairs a brushed brass flat plate with matching metal rockers, controlling two separate lighting circuits from two locations each. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W per gang on 230V mains, making it suitable for standard domestic lighting and low-draw LED arrays.
Designed for 2-way lighting systems where a single light or group of lights is controlled from two different wall positions—such as stairwells, long hallways, or bedrooms with door and bedside switching—the switch allows either rocker to toggle the circuit regardless of the other's position. The ultra-low profile flat plate sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall surface, reducing projection compared to standard switches and giving a cleaner finish in high-traffic areas where protruding switches can catch bags or clothing.
The brushed brass finish provides a warm metallic accent with visible grain texture that softens reflections under both daylight and artificial light. The steel construction includes a built-in gasket between the plate and the wall surface, improving moisture resistance around the edges of the switch in kitchens, utility rooms and other areas with higher humidity. The 16mm minimum back box depth requirement makes this compatible with most standard UK back boxes, including shallow models used in dry-lined walls.
The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and carries IP20 rating, making it suitable for general indoor use but not for bathrooms within zones 1 or 2. The earth terminal is included for safe installation in circuits with earthed metal faceplates.

Frequently Asked
What is 2-way switching and where is it used?
2-way switching allows a single light or group of lights to be controlled from two different wall positions. Common applications include stairwells (switches at top and bottom), long hallways (switches at each end), and bedrooms (door switch and bedside switch). Either switch can turn the lights on or off regardless of the other's position.
What back box depth is required?
The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth. The ultra-low profile plate adds just 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, making the total depth from the wall surface approximately 18-19mm including the rockers.
Can this be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating makes this suitable for general indoor use but not for installation within bathroom zones 1 or 2 where higher ingress protection is required. It can be fitted outside these zones, such as on the wall outside the bathroom door.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this flat plate style in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
