Description

The Wexford is a 2-light lantern pendant built around a hand-blown glass cylinder framed in polished brass, suspended on a matching brass chain. Two SES (E14) candle bulbs sit inside the glass enclosure, held in brass sleeves that run through the centre axis of the lantern. The glass measures 16cm diameter and the full fitting hangs 38cm from chain mount to base finial.

Designed for hallways, stairwells and above small dining tables where vertical drop matters more than lateral spread, the Wexford works in ceiling heights from 2.4m upward. The clear glass keeps the fitting visually light despite the brass mass, making it suited to traditional entryways and Georgian-style interiors where a heavier metal lantern would dominate. Chain length can be adjusted on installation to suit the specific ceiling height and desired drop above floor level.

The polished brass finish reflects warm ambient light when the bulbs are on and catches daylight when they are off, creating tonal contrast against soft neutral walls and darker hardwood floors. The brass frame uses curved scrollwork at top and bottom, adding period detail without over-complication. At 1kg the lantern has enough weight to hang straight on the chain without swaying but remains light enough for plasterboard ceiling roses with proper fixings.

What bulbs does it take?

The Wexford takes two SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 6-8W LED candle bulbs in 2700K warm white for a traditional look without the heat output of filament bulbs.

Can the chain length be adjusted?

Yes. The chain can be shortened during installation by removing links to suit the specific ceiling height and desired drop above the floor or table surface. Once cut, the chain cannot be lengthened again without replacing it.

Is the glass replaceable if broken?

The glass cylinder is hand-blown and specific to this fitting. Contact Impex or ourselves directly if the glass is damaged — replacement glass may be available as a spare part depending on current production runs.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 38cm drop from chain mount to base finial works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. In taller hallways and stairwells the chain can be left longer to fill vertical space and balance the proportions of the room.
