Description

The Virella is a 2 light wall light combining cut optical glass shades with a gold-finish metal frame. Two curved arms extend from a circular wall plate, each ending in a bowl-shaped optical glass shade cut with faceted petal detailing around the rim. Each shade houses a G9 bulb (sold separately) which reflects through the cut glass patterns when lit.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms and living room alcoves, the Virella works as a paired fitting on either side of a fireplace or mirror, or as a single accent on a stairwell wall. The 16cm projection from the wall allows the light to cast upwards and outwards without extending too far into narrow circulation spaces. The twin arms give a balanced visual weight without dominating the wall surface.

The gold finish on the metal frame is a warm tone rather than highly polished, sitting between brushed brass and antique brass in colour depth. The optical glass shades feature shallow facets cut around the rim, creating prismatic reflections when the bulbs are switched on. The total width of 32cm makes the fitting proportionate for walls between 2.5m and 3m wide, such as chimney breasts or the wall space between two doors.

What bulbs does it take?

The Virella takes two G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs in the 3-5W range provide sufficient brightness for most rooms, with warm-white (2700K-3000K) being the most popular choice for this style of fitting.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The Virella carries no IP rating in the specification table, which means it is not rated for bathroom zones. It is designed for dry interior locations such as hallways, bedrooms and living rooms.

Can the arms be adjusted?

No. The arms are fixed in position during manufacture and cannot be repositioned after installation. The glass shades are also fixed to the arm ends and do not swivel or tilt.

How is the optical glass cleaned?

The cut glass shades can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth when the bulbs are switched off and cool. For fingerprints or stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works well. Avoid spraying glass cleaner directly onto the fitting as it may run onto the gold metalwork.
