Description

The Vellum is a 3 light iron lantern pendant built around a vertical cage frame with gothic-arched ribs, finished in aged bronze. Three SES (E14) candle bulbs sit inside white ceramic sleeves at the centre of the frame, creating a central column of light enclosed by the ironwork. The open cage structure allows full visibility of the bulbs and unobstructed light distribution in all directions.

Designed for entrance halls, staircase landings and small dining areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Vellum uses vertical scale rather than width to occupy visual space. The 22.5cm diameter keeps the pendant compact enough for hallways and corridors, while the 39cm height gives presence when viewed from multiple levels in a stairwell. The chain-mounted fitting suits standard UK ceiling roses and the drop length can be adjusted on installation.

The aged bronze finish applies a matte, oxidised patina to the iron frame that softens reflections and adds tonal variation across the curved ribs. Each arch mirrors historic lantern forms found in ecclesiastical and period architecture, but the simplified frame avoids heavily ornamented detailing. The 22.5cm diameter makes it suitable for narrow hallways, but the 39cm height plus chain drop requires adequate vertical clearance. For ceilings below 2.4m, shortening the chain to bring the canopy closer to the pendant top reduces the total drop.
