Description

The Vellum is a 16cm iron lantern pendant with an open-frame cage finished in aged bronze, suspended on a matching chain. A single SES (E14) candle bulb sits at the centre of the cage, visible through the frame's vertical arched straps. The open design allows light to project in all directions without a diffuser, making it suited to task and ambient use in smaller spaces.

Designed for hallways, entrance porches, reading corners and low-ceiling rooms, the Vellum's 33cm height and 16cm diameter provide scale without dominating tight areas. The pendant can be installed singly above a side table or console, or grouped in twos or threes along a galley kitchen island or above a narrow hallway where symmetrical spacing is needed. The chain length is adjustable on installation to suit ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m.

The aged bronze finish on the iron frame shows tonal variation across the metal surface, giving a weathered, hand-forged appearance that suits traditional, country and transitional interiors. The finish pairs with timber flooring, stone worktops and warm-toned textiles without reflecting harshly under daylight. At 1.17kg the pendant has enough weight to hang steadily on the chain without swaying noticeably when doors open or air moves through the room.

The Vellum takes a single SES (E14 small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient hallway or reading light.

Can it be used in multiples?

Yes. The 16cm diameter and compact 33cm height make the Vellum well-suited to linear arrangements. Three pendants spaced 600-800mm apart work above galley kitchen islands or along narrow hallways where ceiling height is limited.

What ceiling height is needed?

The chain is adjustable on installation. For hallways and entrance areas the pendant typically hangs 1.9-2.1m from the floor, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the Vellum if the chain is shortened during fitting.

Is the aged bronze finish consistent across all pieces?

The aged bronze finish shows tonal variation and weathered texture as part of the hand-applied process. Individual pendants may differ slightly in the depth of patina and highlighting on the metal surface.
