Description

The Turren is a 2-light solid brass wall light with a shield-shaped backplate and two horizontal arms terminating in candle-style drip trays, finished in light bronze. Each arm holds a single SES (E14) candle bulb up to 60W, sold separately. The backplate measures 23.5cm across with textured detailing and a notched edge, giving the fitting a medieval-inspired profile without ornate decoration.

Designed for hallways, dining rooms and sitting rooms where symmetrical wall lighting is needed, the Turren works as a single fitting to accent a chimney breast or doorway, or in mirrored pairs flanking a central feature. The 15.5cm projection from the wall positions the candle flames approximately 200mm away from the wall surface, allowing the light to spread sideways along the wall rather than projecting straight out into the room. This shallow depth also makes the fitting suitable for narrower hallways where deeper wall lights would obstruct movement.

The light bronze finish is a warm mid-tone bronze with brown-grey undertones and a low-sheen surface, showing some hand-applied patina variation across the textured areas of the backplate. The solid brass construction gives the fitting a 1.2kg weight, which feels substantial on the wall and requires secure fixing into either solid masonry or battened plasterboard. The candle holders accept decorative candle bulbs, frosted candle bulbs, or candle shades depending on the desired light distribution and aesthetic.

What bulbs does the Turren take?

The Turren uses two SES (E14 small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Decorative clear filament candle bulbs work well to show off the candle-holder design, or frosted candle bulbs for softer light distribution.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the bulb type and the dimmer switch. LED candle bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most LED-compatible dimmers. Halogen and incandescent bulbs dim on standard dimmers. Check bulb compatibility before purchasing a dimmer.

What fixing is needed for the 1.2kg weight?

The backplate requires secure fixing. On solid masonry walls use appropriate wall plugs and screws. On plasterboard, fix either into a stud or use hollow-wall anchors rated for the weight. The backplate has pre-drilled mounting holes and conceals the fixings once the fitting is in place.

Does the bronze finish age or tarnish?

The light bronze finish is applied with some deliberate patina variation. Over time, brass can develop further tarnishing depending on humidity and handling. Most users prefer to leave the finish natural. If polishing is needed, use a brass-specific cleaner on a soft cloth and avoid abrasive materials that would remove the patina.
