Solina 9 Light Crystal Raindrop Pendant Light - Chrome

The Solina is a 9 light crystal pendant built around a 60cm polished chrome ceiling plate and a 140cm drop of faceted crystal beads arranged in graduated strands. Nine GU10 bulb holders sit within the chrome plate, each angled to direct light through the crystal mass below. The beads form a tapered silhouette approximately 60cm wide at the top and narrowing to around 30cm at the lowest point, creating the appearance of a suspended raindrop when viewed from below.

Designed for double-height entrance halls, stairwells with ceiling heights above 3.5m, and open-plan living areas with mezzanine levels, the Solina requires substantial vertical clearance to show its full form. The 140cm drop means the lowest crystal bead typically hangs 2.3-2.5m above floor level when ceiling height is standard 3.5-3.8m, providing both illumination and a visual anchor in tall spaces. The nine GU10 fittings take LED or halogen bulbs up to 35W each, giving flexibility to control light output and colour temperature.

Each crystal bead is machine-cut with multiple facets that refract light in different directions depending on the angle of the bulbs and the ambient daylight in the room. The strands are wire-threaded and fixed at intervals to maintain the tapered shape during installation and use. At 15kg the pendant requires a ceiling fixing rated for the full weight plus a safety margin, typically a metal joist anchor or reinforced plasterboard fixing rather than a standard ceiling rose alone. The polished chrome finish reflects both the internal bulb light and external daylight, amplifying the sparkle effect across the crystal.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 140cm drop works in rooms with ceiling heights of 3.5m or above. In a standard 3.5m-height entrance hall, the lowest crystal bead hangs approximately 2.3m above the floor, providing clearance for head height while maintaining the full visual effect of the cascade.

What bulbs does it take?

The Solina takes nine GU10 bulbs, each rated up to 35W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations pair this with warm-white LED GU10s between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K to provide ambient light while keeping running costs low.

Is the drop adjustable?

No. The 140cm drop is fixed during manufacture to maintain the structural integrity of the crystal strands. The pendant is designed for double-height spaces and cannot be shortened without dismantling the wire threading.

What ceiling fixing is required?

At 15kg, the Solina requires a ceiling fixing rated for at least 20kg. A standard ceiling rose is insufficient — use a metal joist anchor if fixing directly to a joist, or a heavy-duty plasterboard toggle rated for the weight if fixing to plasterboard. Professional installation is recommended.
