Description
The Ridmore is a 2-light solid brass wall light built around a decorative bow-tie shaped backplate in polished brass. Two curved arms extend outward from the central ribbon motif, each supporting a white candle sleeve and an SES (E14) bulb fitting. The backplate measures 22cm across and projects 11cm from the wall, with the arms rising to an 18cm total height. Each fitting accepts bulbs up to 60W, sold separately.
Designed for traditional and classical interiors, the Ridmore suits symmetrical wall placements flanking mirrors, headboards, mantels or console tables in hallways, bedrooms and dining rooms. The curved arm structure and central bow motif reference Georgian and Victorian decorative metalwork, while the white candle sleeves keep the fitting visually light against darker wall colours. The 11cm projection means the fitting sits close to the wall without dominating narrow corridors or stairwells.
The polished brass finish is applied to solid brass metalwork, giving the fitting its 0.6kg weight and high reflectivity. The polish catches and reflects room light during the day, adding tonal warmth to cream, green, burgundy and heritage-toned interiors. The finish will develop a natural patina over time unless regularly polished, which is typical behaviour for solid brass fittings in residential settings. The candle sleeves hide the bulb base and provide a clean visual termination to each arm.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Ridmore take?
The fitting takes two SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for traditional interiors.
Will the brass tarnish over time?
Solid brass develops a natural patina over time in residential environments, which is a characteristic of the material rather than a defect. The patina can be removed with brass polish if a high-shine finish is preferred, or left to develop for an antique appearance.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The Ridmore carries no IP rating and is not designed for bathroom zones where moisture or splashing is present. It is suitable for dry indoor locations including hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms.
How is it fitted to the wall?
The backplate mounts to a standard UK wall box or backplate using two screws. The electrical connection is made behind the backplate before it is secured to the wall. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
