Description

The PowerMaster 5ft LED-compatible batten fitting houses a single T8 LED tube (sold separately) behind an IP65-rated polystyrene diffuser. The white ABS base measures 1565mm long by 72mm wide by 68mm deep, with polycarbonate end clips that secure the diffuser and allow tool-free access to the tube for replacement. The single-ended T8 lampholder connects to mains-voltage LED tubes rated for 220-240V operation.

Designed for garages, workshops, storage areas, commercial kitchens and covered outdoor walkways, the IP65 tri-proof rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. The fitting can be surface-mounted to ceilings or walls using the integral mounting brackets on the ABS base. Bathroom installation is permitted in zones 1, 2 and 3 but not zone 0 (inside baths or shower trays).

The polystyrene diffuser softens the output of bare LED tubes, reducing glare in environments where the fitting is mounted at or below head height. The white finish on the ABS base suits utility spaces where a clean appearance matters but decorative lighting is not required. At 1.29kg fitted weight, the batten can be mounted directly to plasterboard ceilings using toggle fixings or screwed into ceiling joists or rafters for permanent installations.

Does the fitting include an LED tube?

No. The batten is sold as a fitting only. You need to purchase a compatible T8 LED tube separately. The fitting accepts single-ended T8 tubes rated for 220-240V mains voltage.

What does the IP65 rating mean for installation?

IP65 means the fitting is fully dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for garages, outdoor covered areas, commercial kitchens and bathrooms (zones 1-3 only). It is not submersible and should not be installed inside a bath or shower tray (zone 0).

Can the diffuser be removed for tube replacement?

Yes. The polycarbonate end clips allow the polystyrene diffuser to be removed without tools, giving access to the T8 lampholder for tube replacement. Re-clip the diffuser after changing the tube to maintain the IP65 seal.

How is the batten mounted?

The ABS base has integral mounting brackets along its length. Surface-mount the batten to a ceiling or wall using appropriate fixings for the substrate — toggle fixings for plasterboard, screws into joists or battens for timber, expanding plugs for masonry.
