Description
The Orell is a 4 light glass lantern pendant built around a cylindrical clear glass drum held within an antique brass metal frame. Four candle-style arms sit inside the glass cylinder on a central stem, each fitted with an SES (E14) bulb holder. The brass top and base rings support the glass panels, which run floor-to-ceiling within the metal frame, creating a fully enclosed lantern.
Designed for hallways, entrance areas and formal dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Orell provides ambient light through the glass while the antique brass finish adds warmth to period, traditional and transitional interiors. The 33cm diameter suits spaces approximately 3-4m wide without overwhelming narrower hallways. The fully enclosed glass makes it suitable for draught-prone entrance areas where open pendant frames would cause candle-flame bulbs to flicker.
The antique brass finish has a softer, slightly darker tone than polished brass, with subtle tonal variation across the metal that mimics natural aging. This pairs well with oak, walnut and other warm-toned wood furniture, natural stone floors and cream or warm-white painted walls. The cylindrical glass is smooth and unmarked, giving clean light distribution without the prismatic effects of cut or textured glass. At 4kg the lantern has enough mass to hang steadily on the chain without swaying in normal air movement.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Orell takes four SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with candle-flame LED bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a warm traditional look.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 41cm lantern height works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. In hallways or dining rooms the lantern typically hangs 2-2.2m above floor level, giving clearance for passing underneath while keeping the light at an effective height.
Is the glass removable for cleaning?
The cylindrical glass drum is held within the top and base brass rings. Consult the fitting instructions for the specific method to release the glass — most lantern designs allow the glass to be removed for cleaning and bulb replacement without dismantling the entire frame.
What width hallway does it suit?
The 33cm diameter works in hallways approximately 1m-1.5m wide and in entrance areas or dining rooms 3-4m across. In narrower hallways under 1m wide, the lantern may feel visually dominant depending on ceiling height and surrounding wall colour.
