Opus Square Outdoor Wall Light - White

The Opus is a 90mm square outdoor wall light cast from die-cast aluminium and finished in white paint, with a dual-diffuser configuration that emits light both upwards and downwards through transparent Pyrex glass panels. The fitting takes a single G9 bulb (sold separately) and projects 100mm from the wall once mounted. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, doorways, patios and sheltered garden walls.

Designed for external lighting where a clean, directional wash of light is needed without a large luminaire footprint, the Opus suits modern and contemporary facades, rendered walls, and entrances where the fitting needs to sit flush against the building line. The 90mm square face is compact enough for narrow wall sections between windows or beside door frames. The dual-diffuser configuration throws light up onto the soffit or wall above and down onto the ground or step below, providing both ambient and wayfinding light in a single fitting.

The white powder-coated aluminium body resists corrosion in outdoor conditions and pairs cleanly with white render, painted brick, or light-coloured cladding. The Pyrex glass diffusers are thicker and more heat-resistant than standard glass, tolerating the higher operating temperature of halogen G9 bulbs if used, though LED G9 bulbs run cooler and extend the service life of the diffuser seals. The body is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and G9 LED bulb rated for dimming.

What does the IP44 rating cover?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm and splashes of water from any direction. It is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, eaves, and patios, but is not rated for direct exposure to rain or submersion.

What G9 bulb should I use?

The fitting accepts any G9 bulb up to the wattage limit specified by Ideal Lux (typically 28-40W halogen or equivalent LED). For outdoor use, a warm-white LED G9 bulb between 2-4W and 2700K-3000K provides adequate light while running cooler and lasting longer than halogen.

Can it be used in exposed locations?

The IP44 rating is designed for splashproof conditions, not full weather exposure. Mount the Opus under eaves, porches, or canopies where it is sheltered from direct rainfall. For fully exposed walls, a higher IP rating (IP54 or IP65) is recommended.

Is dimming supported?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable G9 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. Halogen G9 bulbs are inherently dimmable, but LED G9 bulbs must be explicitly rated for dimming to avoid flicker.
