Opus Square Outdoor Wall Light - Grey

The Opus is a 90mm square outdoor wall light in grey die-cast aluminium with twin transparent Pyrex glass diffusers that project light both upwards and downwards. The fitting takes a single G9 bulb (sold separately) and carries an IP44 rating for outdoor installation in gardens, on building facades, along pathways and beside entrance doors.

Designed for exterior walls where both decorative wash lighting and functional illumination are needed, the Opus casts light up onto the wall surface above the fitting and down onto the ground or steps below. The 100mm projection from the wall gives enough standoff to deliver a broad light pattern without the fitting protruding excessively from the building line. The G9 bulb position is recessed between the twin diffusers, avoiding direct glare when approaching the fitting from the side.

The die-cast aluminium body is finished in a mid-tone grey powder coat that resists corrosion and fading in exterior conditions. The Pyrex glass diffusers are harder and more heat-resistant than standard glass, handling the output from halogen or LED G9 bulbs without thermal stress. What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for covered outdoor positions such as under eaves, porches and carports, or exposed positions where the fitting is not directly under a water source. It is not submersible and should not be installed where it will be directly hosed or subject to high-pressure water jets.

What bulb should I use?

The Opus takes a single G9 bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 3-5W LED G9 bulb in 3000K warm white for exterior domestic installations. Halogen G9 bulbs up to the fitting's maximum rated wattage are also compatible, though LED alternatives run cooler and consume less energy.

Is the Opus dimmable?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable G9 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself supports dimming, but the bulb and dimmer must also be rated for dimming to function correctly.

How is the light pattern distributed?

The twin Pyrex diffusers project light both upwards and downwards from the wall surface. Light washes up onto the wall above the fitting and casts downward illumination onto the ground, steps or path below, creating a balanced up/down exterior accent.
