Okara 6 Light Glass Rod Lantern Pendant - Polished Chrome

The Okara is a 30cm diameter cylindrical pendant light with six G9 bulb fittings enclosed by vertical clear glass rods arranged around a polished chrome inner frame. The glass rods are held between top and bottom chrome rings, creating a drum-shaped lantern form that disperses light outward while the chrome frame reflects it back through the glass.

Designed for entrance halls, stairwells with ceiling heights above 2.7m, and central positions in open-plan living spaces, the Okara provides ambient rather than task lighting. The 43.5cm height and 30cm width suit ceilings of 2.7-3.5m, hanging 700-1000mm below the ceiling rose depending on preferred visual balance. The six G9 bulbs (sold separately) give enough light output for a 3-4m hallway or 12-15m² living area when paired with 3-5W LED capsules.

The polished chrome finish on the top cap, bottom disc and internal frame reflects surrounding light and colours back through the glass rods, amplifying brightness in rooms with pale walls or high natural light. The 8.5kg weight requires secure fixing to a joist or ceiling rose rated for suspension loads, and the glass rod arrangement creates a textured vertical rhythm that breaks up the visual mass of the pendant when viewed from below.

What bulbs does the Okara take?

The Okara takes six G9 capsule bulbs up to 33W maximum combined load (approximately 5.5W per bulb). Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use 3-5W warm-white LED G9 capsules at 2700K-3000K.

What ceiling height is needed?

The pendant works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. In a 2.7m room the fitting hangs approximately 700mm below the ceiling rose, leaving 2m clearance beneath. Higher ceilings allow the pendant to drop further for increased visual impact in stairwells or double-height spaces.

Is the chrome finish reflective?

Yes. The polished chrome on the top cap, bottom disc and internal frame is mirror-finish and reflects light back through the glass rods, increasing brightness. This works well in pale-walled rooms but can create glare in very bright conditions or when positioned opposite large windows.

How is the pendant cleaned?

The glass rods can be wiped with a microfibre cloth and standard glass cleaner once bulbs are removed and power is isolated. The chrome surfaces clean with a soft cloth and a small amount of chrome polish, buffed to a shine. Avoid abrasive cloths that may scratch the polished finish.
