Description

The Okara is a 22cm diameter cylindrical pendant light framed in polished chrome with vertical glass rods forming the outer cage. Four G9 bulb fittings sit inside the glass surround, casting light through the rods to create diffused ambient lighting with a subtle shimmer from the glass surfaces.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights above 2.4m, the Okara suits contemporary and modern interiors where geometric forms are preferred over ornate decoration. The 28.5cm height and compact 22cm footprint allow the pendant to be used singly over a breakfast table or in multiples along a 2.5-3m island without dominating the space. The polished chrome frame reflects surrounding light and pairs with metallic hardware, glass worktops and monochrome cabinetry.

Each of the four G9 fittings takes a bulb up to 33W maximum (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or capsule bulbs depending on the light output and colour temperature needed. The vertical glass rods are held between polished chrome top and bottom rings, with the suspension cable running through the central core. The entire fitting weighs 4kg when assembled, requiring a ceiling rose rated for the combined weight of the pendant and bulbs.

The Okara takes four G9 capsule bulbs, maximum 33W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for warm ambient light, though G9 halogens are also compatible.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 28.5cm height of the pendant itself requires a ceiling height of at least 2.4m to allow comfortable clearance when hung over a dining table or island. The suspension cable length can be adjusted during installation to suit the room.

Can it be used in multiples?

Yes. The compact 22cm diameter allows two or three Okara pendants to be spaced along a kitchen island or dining table without crowding. Spacing of 60-80cm between centres works well for most island configurations.

How is the glass cleaned?

The vertical glass rods can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water or glass cleaner. Switch off and allow the bulbs to cool before cleaning. The polished chrome frame can be cleaned with the same cloth to maintain the mirror finish.
