Description
The Melden is a 19cm square wall light with a chrome frame housing vertical strands of clear faceted crystals suspended behind glass panels. A single G9 bulb (sold separately) sits behind the crystals, reflecting through the cut faces and casting patterns of light and shadow onto surrounding walls. The rectangular chrome body projects 10cm from the wall, giving the fitting enough depth to layer the crystal strands without protruding heavily into the room.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms, and living areas where accent lighting is needed without occupying floor or ceiling space, the Melden works well flanking mirrors, either side of a bed headboard, or on feature walls in alcoves. The 33W maximum rating allows for a bright G9 halogen or LED bulb, though most users pair this with a 5-7W LED for softer accent light. The chrome finish suits modern and transitional interiors, pairing cleanly with greys, whites and mirrored surfaces.
The glass panel structure keeps dust off the crystals while maintaining visibility of the cascade from all angles. The crystals are individually suspended on fine wires, so each strand moves slightly when the fitting is touched, creating micro-variations in the light pattern. The compact 19cm square footprint allows two Melden wall lights to sit 60-80cm apart on either side of a mirror or headboard without crowding the wall.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Melden take?
The fitting takes a standard G9 bulb up to 33W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose a 5-7W LED G9 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for softer accent lighting, though a brighter 10W LED or 33W halogen can be used where more light output is needed.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
The Melden carries no IP rating and is designed for dry indoor use only. It is not suitable for bathrooms unless installed well away from zones requiring splash protection (typically Zone 3, more than 60cm from a bath or shower).
How are the crystals cleaned?
The glass panels keep most dust off the crystals. For cleaning, switch off the mains supply and allow the bulb to cool fully. Wipe the glass panels with a dry microfibre cloth. If crystals need direct cleaning, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately to avoid water marks.
Does it work as a standalone or only in pairs?
The Melden works well as a single accent light on a feature wall or alcove. It is also commonly used in pairs flanking mirrors, either side of a bed headboard, or symmetrically in hallways.
